Our hazelnut supply chain

The quality of AmaNut Italy hazelnuts begins in the field. We directly manage 154 hectares of hazelnut orchards in Piedmont, overseeing every stage of cultivation according to our internal production guidelines. This control begins with the trees themselves and allows us to know the origin of the raw materials entering the subsequent processing stages.

154 hectares of hazelnut orchards in the heart of Piedmont

Our hazelnuts grow in Piedmont, one of Italy's most suitable regions for hazelnut cultivation, where favourable soil and climate conditions, agricultural tradition and technical expertise have contributed to the development of hazelnut farming.

The farms managed by our group currently include 154 hectares of hazelnut orchards, forming the foundation of our production. Our development plan includes establishing new orchards, with the aim of progressively increasing raw material availability while maintaining direct control over cultivation.

Over 70,000 plants and Italy’s leading cultivars

Our orchards include over 70,000 hazelnut trees belonging to some of Italy's leading cultivars, including Tonda Gentile delle Langhe, Tonda Giffoni and Tonda Francescana.

Direct management of our orchards allows us to monitor the development of different varieties over time and work towards maintaining healthy, productive and sustainable plantations. This strong agricultural foundation supports the entire AmaNut Italy supply chain.

Each hazelnut orchard is managed according to our production guidelines

Each plot is managed according to our internal production guidelines, through continuous monitoring of the trees and the adoption of targeted agronomic practices.

Our activities include proper crop nutrition, irrigation management and monitoring of the different stages of the growing cycle.

Our goal is to support each tree through to optimal nut maturity, working to obtain large-calibre hazelnuts with consistent quality characteristics over time.

A traceable ingredient with a known origin

Owning and managing our orchards means we can directly trace the journey of our hazelnuts. We personally oversee cultivation and harvest the nuts grown in our orchards, maintaining control over the origin of each batch. This is one of the key strengths of the AmaNut Italy supply chain and provides the foundation for ensuring traceability throughout the subsequent production stages. Harvesting is carried out mechanically at the optimal stage of maturity to preserve the quality characteristics of the raw materials before they enter the processing cycle.

An agricultural supply chain looking to the future

Our orchard management goes hand in hand with AmaNut Italy's research and genetic improvement activities. We work on selecting new hazelnut cultivars to improve productivity, nut quality and adaptability to the demands of modern agriculture. Some of these new selections may gradually be introduced into our orchards and used exclusively by AmaNut Italy. Our hazelnut orchards therefore become places where production and research come together, allowing us to observe new genetic varieties directly under real growing conditions.

Processing begins at harvest

Once harvested, the hazelnuts continue their journey through the AmaNut Italy supply chain.

Cleaning, drying, shelling, sorting, roasting and packaging are the stages through which raw materials are prepared and transformed into the different products intended for the market.

Managing these operations internally allows us to extend the same direct control that characterises our entire supply chain beyond the cultivation stage.
